Environmental And Social Responsibility
Carou designs are directly inspired by the natural world and the unique experiences found exploring vast, rugged landscapes. With this in mind, we are intrinsically bound by sustainability and nurturing the natural resources we have at our disposal. Our mission is to preserve and showcase nature as sensitively and beautifully as we can through the medium of jewellery.

Materials

We use recycled brass and silver in our jewellery.

Our 24k Gold plating process is made as environmentally friendly as possible by working with companies that focus on reducing and neutralising chemical waste, and suppliers who engage in an initiative to ensure sustainable sourcing of all raw materials in its supply chain.

We use a combination of pearls and semi-precious stones in our jewellery. Our stones are reclaimed or ethically sourced from licensed mines where as possible.

Our packaging is recyclable and biodegradable.  We have replaced the use of plastic bubble wrap with biodegradable alternatives.

We deliver local orders by bike to reduce carbon emissions.
Ethics

We only work with manufacturers who provide fair pay and working conditions to their employees.  Our products are produced in Australia and Bali, and our manufacturers are focused on quality, innovation and ethical standards.
Philosophy

At Carou we resist the pressure of the fast-paced trend cycle by producing limited quantities and zeroing in on quality.  We do not participate in the traditional fashion calendar, which puts pressure on brands to produce endless styles to be worn for a season and then discarded.  Our collections are seasonless and our pieces are intended to be worn for a lifetime. All our ranges work seamlessly together; ever evolving but always building on our core signature style. This means that our pieces transcend time and can be layered together even if they have been purchased years apart.

We only produce in limited numbers and work with an 'as and when needed' approach to production, which eliminates waste. It also eliminates the need to mark down products at the end of each collection, which helps discourage mass consumerism.
